Apologies to all

I just want to apologize to folks on this list and to Grant. I dont know the guy. I suppose I shouldnt make assumptions.
Im a Pisces....and we folk are sensitive. Ive found this to be a very tough city to live in....
Lots of flakes, shallowness, and not much of a vegan community. When I first moved here I connected to the raw vegan community, which was cool...but that was because I had more money and could afford to eat out alot and go to raw food parties and such. Life isnt that way anymore. I would like to connect with other vegans and raw fooders...especially some queer veg folk. I hope my experience will get better...as the few queer vegans Ive met in this city have been very un-promising. With those few I met I encountered alot of discrimination for my beliefs in spirituality, for being conservative in the way that I dont drink, smoke pot, or anything else...but radical in that same sense.
I dont have the perfect body...Im not a stick figure, or a smooth toned guy, as most gay men seem to want....and expect of me (being super skinny) being vegan. But, I do have a loving heart, and my greatest trait I believe is my empathy and compassion....thats why I became a vegetarian in the first place, and what moved me into veganism, and why Im a massage therapist, and do volunteer work and public education.
It seems like Im one of the few left of a dying breed.........are you out there?
And by saying this Im not saying Im perfect or better than thou.....
but rather expressing my hearts being, and desire.
Anyways....I hope you guys dont think Im a nutzo asshole....Im really not.
Its difficult adjusting to this california culture...which I decidedly dont like....at least the negative aspects of flakiness, and non-communication. Where I come from (ny state) if people have a problem they talk to you about it. It doesnt have to be an angry confrontation. People also show up on time, and call if they cant. Some people seem to think that being honest about things is being mean.....or will hurt someone...and in some cases perhaps...but overall I think its best to communicate, if it takes soft words, or sometimes even strong (but tactful) ones.

    Shekinah Love,

Thank you for your thoughts, appologies, and expressing your frustrations.

I think connecting with others is pretty tricky for most people. I know personally, it is an ongoing challenge to find people who I enjoy as much as they enjoy me, who "get" me as much as i "get" them, or even finding someone I can relate to on elemental levels.

I don't associate much with the vegan community in Seattle, mostly because my past experiences have left a less than nice taste in my mouth. arguing over the vegan quotent of sugar while trying to enjoy a nice iced tea at a party is possitively stupid and a monumental waste of energy.

and in the past two years of serious vegan living, i have only ever met one skinny vegan. and thats because all he ate was rice. your body will do what its supposed to do - either sticks and stones, or nut and fluff.

I find that my friends are from all groups and all communities. meat eatting straight people, veggy fags, punk rock straight edge lesbians, raw food artist radical fairies. I'm even dating a meat eating smoker. i have personnaly found the most saticfing relationships come from a varied and interesting cross section of peeps.

there is a radical difference between east and west coast communication styles, of that there is no doubt. i could go on and on about my theories, but my friend shawn sums it up nicely: west coast is nice in a mean way and east coast is mean in a nice way.

well...it makes sense to me, in any case.

i think there is nothing more healthy than a dose of americaphobia. we really are nothing more than a giant mob of megalomaniacs with bad hair.

          i wish i were canadian...sigh...
